Africa’s alternative assets are by nature a risky asset class, however, savvy asset owners and asset managers who take a long-term view and align themselves with the right local partner can benefit from the higher yields on offer compared to other alternative markets.

Despite the opportunities the continent presents, long-term investors with strong appetite to build alternative portfolios are faced with lack of experience which prevents their Investment Committees from approving capital commitments. As well as the absence of available investment vehicles that offer the diversification of risk which is required.

Themed implementing catalysts for impact and financial returns, the forum will enable critical and thought-provoking discussions on how the public and private sector can work together to successfully navigate investment opportunities across Africa. And will serve as a conduit for investment funds and managers that are investing or thinking of investing in Africa.

KEY THEMES

SCALING IMPACT INVESTING

Scaling Impact Investing in Africa

Leading impact investors deploying capital for return, social and environmental outcomes convene to identify new approaches to inspire, educate and look at progress in scaling up capital in the impact space.
INFRASTRUCTURE DEBT

Investing in infrastructure debt

African asset owners can take advantage of infrastructure debt as their long-dated liabilities provide a natural match for the long-dated nature of infrastructure debt. What are the challenges of this in Africa?
PRIVATE EQUITY & REAL ASSETS

New Capital Model for Africa

Alongside PE, fund managers now have private debt and permanent capital vehicles (PCV) as alternative strategies of risk-adjusted returns in their investment portfolio. This Intensive examines drivers of this growing trend.
